1950 FORD TEN SPECIAL
This unique special has an original tube chassis that has been stripped to bare metal and repainted. From some of the modifications that have been applied to the chassis it appears to include features from the book “The Construction of Ford Specials†by John Mills that was published in London. The car is very original in that all of the brakes operate from steel rods, and has a spare motor (the original) with all manner of (Ford 10) spares to complete the project, even the original leather seats. The only part still to be obtained is a Jaguar grille that needs to be mounted upside down to fit the body shell. The car has an original fibreglass body believed to be an early Falcon fibreglass body. Noel Ching from Nelson was believed to have built five Ford based sports cars between 1953 and 1955. A photo of one of these appears on page 67 of the book Historic Racing Cars of NZ, the photo taken at Pukekohe in 1963. This little beauty is only 3.3 metres long x 1.3 metres wide x 870mm high. I have had this car since the 12th July 1997, it is a very original project that will give someone with good fibreglass skills a great deal of satisfaction to see completed, maybe it could give someone a low cost entry into historic motor racing. Price $20,000. Location Pukekohe, Auckland Contact Mike on mobile 021 418 148 Email: mikelynn@askme.co.nz
